[Thinkpad] 301 error on 600

I know a 301 error is the keyboard, but I tried two other known good kb's,
and same exact error. Could this be the kb controller on the system board?
I note that the kb plugs into the sub card. Can it be a bad sub card?
Anyone before I change out the system board!
